Contribution to national debate
Our University is the higher education institution that informs about its news events in the best and timeliest way, according to professionals in the media (Image Perception Survey of Usach, aimed at journalists and media editors, 2011).
The public opinion and the press show an 88% of positive assessment to the work of our University.
In 2011, the University was cited 3,149 times in radio, television, newspapers, magazines and digital media notes. The average number of appearances in the media is 286 entries per month (Media Perception Index,Digecap).
We think about Chile
The University thinks about Chile in the coming years across all its academic structure, and especially in its nine institutes, think tanks and research centers. These are the CECTA (food), CEDENNA (nanoscience and nanotechnology), CEUS Llanquihue (food technology), CICES (higher education), Comenius (Educational Innovation), CEDETEC (educational technology), Citecamp (innovation), IDEA (social sciences) and Innovo (technology transfer).

Besides being a university of excellence, leader in management, technology and knowledge innovation, based on the sciences and humanities, with national impact and international recognition, the Universidad de Santiago is also socially responsible. Therefore, it is committed to principles and values to form socially responsible citizens and contribute to a fairer and more sustainable society.
