Created in 1982, the Universidad de Santiago Orchestra each year performs a wide repertoire of representative composers from the most diverse periods of Spanish-American and contemporary music.

It has successfully performed in the following stages: Frutillar and Algarrobo Musical Weeks; Rocas de Santo Domingo Musical Gatherings; La Serena and Villarrica; Midday Concerts of the Teatro Municipal de Santiago, Concert Seasons of the Universidad Santa María de Valparaíso, Teatro Municipal de Viña del Mar, and Teatro Municipal de Temuco, and the National Concert of La Moneda Palace, among others.

At present, thanks to the organization of the Academic Vice Presidency, the Directorate of Extension and Cultural Activities is carrying out the 2009 Concerts Season, completely free and open to the community, at the University Aula Magna.
